There is plenty of talk about having a flat, unified team where everyone is responsible for uptime and reliability. But that cuts to some very core assumptions about how Dev and Ops are classically defined in terms of role as well as actual job requirements / expectations. Some example points for consideration:

What personality traits are critical versus important versus nice-to-have?
How do you set those expectations with someone who has never had that responsibility in their role before?
How can you tell if a job candidate will be willing to do it?
What are the best ways to schedule coverage duties across such a team – particularly when 24×7 is a critical business priority?
