After 10 years, the most influential software architecture book, Software Architecture in Practice, has released a new edition. If you’re an architect, or at all interested in architecture, this book is essential reading. It describes in detail quality attributes ( Availability, Interoperability, Modifiability, Performance, Security,Testability Usability), provides guidance for choosing and balancing among the attributes you want your project to have, and supplies concrete advice for building your software so that it has the attributes you have chosen. In addition, the book discusses the relationship between architecture and business. New in this edition are discussions of Agile, Cloud, Social networks, and other current topics.
The Architect SIG of Agile Austin will be discussing this book at the November meeting. If you get a chance to purchase and read the book prior to the meeting, that’s great, but even if you don’t, please come and join the discussion.
